Whether you celebrate Hanukah, Kwanza, Christmas, another holy day or a local custom, I wish you happy holidays!
Since the beginning of the month of December you’ve likely been seeing lots of yummy recipes on the web or in your favorite magazines, and you’re naturally tempted to try one today, one tomorrow, and another one the day after tomorrow—because gosh, they look so yummy! You need to taste each and every recipe, and of course, even if you share it with your friends or family members, you will still enjoy a few extra bites ;).
As much as I am all for an 80/20 approach, I know that the end of the year can destroy months of hard work before. So what can we do?
Plan your festive meals in advance. Know when you will be indulging. And in between—don’t, DON’T—and just in case you did not read it clearly…DON’T finish the boxes of chocolates, the scrumptious vanilla cheesecake or other rich dishes! Take advantage of your time “off” in between rich meals to eat super healthy—not to punish yourself, but to cleanse your body: soups, broths, lightly steamed dark leafy greens and grilled fish. Avoid cookies, creamy desserts, fried foods and alcohol.
Of course, be sure to maintain a high level of physical activity and you will sail through the holidays without adversely impacting the scale. You can totally have your cake and eat it too….just not at every meal ;).
Enjoy your holidays!
