Many of you have been asking me about my suggestion to drink fresh lemon juice every morning. Why lemon? Here are all the answers to my favorite morning detox drink!
An overly acidic body is not healthy, and you can actually alkalize your body very easily on your own. One of the most effective ways is to start your day with freshly squeezed lemon juice.
You’re probably thinking – wait, isn’t lemon acidic? True, outside the body, lemon juice is acidic (its pH is below 7). However, inside the body, once the lemon is fully metabolized, it leaves an alkaline residue thus raising the pH of the body. So, drinking lemon juice will not give you a stomachache nor additional acidity, but rather it will balance your body pH for the positive!
Don’t forget to drink your freshly-squeezed lemon juice in room temperature water – but not in hot water! Heat will destroy the lemon’s benefits. It’s also important to use fresh, organic lemons and squeeze them right before you drink – not the day before or in advance, as the vitamins oxidize when exposed to air and light.
