Greetings from Hallmark’s NBC-Universal TV studios where it is all hands on deck minutes before the daily 2 hour “Home & Family” show.
The set is in fact a fully functioning house complete with kitchen, garden, vegetable patch, sitting room, bedroom, etc… An army of staff sporting the show’s “CREW” t-shirts and a just as comprehensive team of producers. Each is set to go and the atmosphere is buzzing.
We are in the world of high flying professionalism, complete with full American smile, the one that puts you at ease and makes you feel that everything is going to be just fine. Both the show’s star hosts are charming. No oversized egos here. An absolute delight!
The catering offered would put a smile on many a boot.camper’s face with an attractive spread of shrimps, coconut milk, spinach salad, fruit salad, brown rice and other healthy treats. Of course, should one prefer, it is also possible to binge on M&Ms, Jelly Beans, sodas, cookies, energy bars, etc… But the point is choice is available!
This is all happening right where Steven Spielberg and other Hollywood royalties shoot their movies. Making it the perfect attraction for celebrity hungry tourists who board the little tour trains for a ride around Universal Studios hoping to catch sight of a famous face. Taking of which, we have the surprise visit of Latoya Jackson whom I team up with for a musical quizz game on Soul music….a topic I admit knowing next to nothing about, so I rely entirely on my team mate but to no avail as we are sorely beaten by opponents who really knew their Otis (Redding) from their Percy (Sledge).
During my segment, I present the origins of LeBootCamp: how, after having tried 42 different diets to lose my excess pounds and after having battled with serious illness I wanted to lose weight healthily and help my body heal through better nutrition (the now famous “clean” nutrition), effective and proven exercise methods, better stress and sleep management and second to none motivation techniques.
On this occasion I make the acquaintance of Monica Potter, an actress I love. We decide to keep in touch to… well, shhh! It’s a secret… to be revealed in a little while.
We finish off this part with Swiss Ball exercises (which Mark renames giant blueberries). I demonstrate the elbow plank, where we rock back and forth over just 5 to 10 cm whilst keeping our body rigid as a plank, thus engaging and toning our core abs (flat tummy) as well as superficial abs (six pack), dorsals, triceps and biceps. Just that! For those who have a tendency to dizziness, one can just as well work out abs sitting on a couch, feet up on a Swiss Ball as you will see in the show, contracting the abdominals and raising the bust by a few centimeters.
I complete this wonderful experience by a charming encounter with the big chief himself, the head producer, who just said: “I want you back”, how could I possibly say no?
