Wowee! I have been coaching Min Jee for 6 months now. Do you remember how I met her 2 days before she was due for bariatric surgery (gastrectomy, or ablation of a portion of her stomach)?
In a state of morbid obesity, each minute of her life her physical the condition was deteriorating. She couldn’t exert much effort and was tiring easily.
She had really tried hard with an array of different diets with typical outcomes: rapid weight loss, soon regained… with a few extra pounds on top of the ones originally shed… and so on went the cycle.
Our fortunate and timely encounter not only saved her from the knife and all its well known consequences, but also cleared her from hypertension, diabetes and cholesterol.
As the weeks went by we established an exhaustive LeBootCamp program including:
Gourmet nutrition : being of South Korean origin meant that going without her beloved rice or grilled chicken was out of the question. Min Jee loves food, so we had to be creative and find delicious guilt free treats that won’t tip the scales. But of course, when it is really good or when her fiance invites her to the restaurant, she doesn’t deny herself the pleasure, actually, she even has seconds! No more fast food, it doesn’t even appeal to her after 6 months together with me 😉 .
Easy fitness : I must say that she really blew my mind on that front! She goes beyond what I ask her to do, steps out of her comfort zone and, once rid of the first few pounds, discovered boundless energy and an incredible urge to get moving! On the program, a minimum of 12000 steps a day. She finds a way. #noexcuse. She rises early and goes to bed later (she has a demanding job being the manager of a beauty salon). She goes to the gym 5 days a week and takes Zumba, spinning, weight training classes, etc… she exercises and it shows!
Motivation: each week we create and take on a new challenge with food, fitness or even clothes. Something to stay motivated and never succumb to the boredom of routine. When she overindulges, very rarely in truth, she immediately does a 3 day detox to cleanse her body straight away and get back on the right footing.
Stress and sleep management: she sleeps well and avoids going to bed too late and manages stress by practicing my yoga breathing exercises which you can find here.
The results so far? Over the last 6 months she went from an XXL, to an XL, then an L and this week to an M size!!! She can dress at Forever 21 and Lululemon, two brands that didn’t make her size before. She has dropped from 59% body fat to 35%. WHAT AN IMPROVEMENT!
She feels great about herself and wants to progress faster but NO… we resist that temptation… as we know only too well the consequences of being too hasty.
So at the time of writing this, she has just gone under the 80 kg (176.4 lbs) mark, to precisely 79.8 kg (175.9lbs)
Ahead we go!
