Check out our fun cooking section created just for you: #LaBonneCuisine Cooking.
With Thanksgiving on the horizon, it’s the perfect season to try your hand at some homemade cranberry sauce. I know it’s easy to grab a can or jar off the shelf at your local supermarket, but it’s just about as easy to make it yourself! This 3-ingredient, 1-pot recipe creates a flawless jellied cranberry sauce in no time.
For the perfect pairing, serve it together with your traditional Thanksgiving turkey, but feel free to also enjoy it as a breakfast jam or to flavor your favorite yogurt!
Cranberries are a very good source of vitamin C, dietary fiber, and manganese, as well as a good source of vitamin E, vitamin K, copper and pantothenic acid. The unique blend of antioxidants in the cranberry contributes to its potent health benefits.
A great accompaniment to meats that can be heavy to digest, our easy jellied cranberry sauce adds a perfect blend of sweet and tart to any main course. Don’t hesitate to try out this recipe right now and even get some jars ready for Christmas!
Ingredients:
- 12 oz cranberries
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup orange juice
Directions:
- Set aside about a 1/2 cup of cranberries, and place the rest in a pot over low heat.
- Add the sugar and orange juice and mix well.
- Cook for 10 minutes to allow the cranberries to soften, stirring regularly.
- Cook for an additional 10-12 minutes over medium heat, stirring regularly, until the cranberries pop open and form a jellied texture. Add the 1/2 cup of whole cranberries during cooking to vary the texture in the sauce.
- Store in an airtight jar and let cool.
Bon appétit!
