I’m excited to share with you an original creation direct from my kitchen!
This smoothie will satisfy your chocolate cravings while boosting your body with nutrients…it doesn’t get better than that, does it?
Turmeric is a treasure trove of benefits, and numerous medical studies published in the USA have highlighted its anti-cancer properties. Sometimes called Indian saffron because of its color and used for centuries in Asia (mainly China), this root is widely known for helping reduce inflammation. Its power comes from its active compound “curcumin” which accounts for the intense yellow/orange color of turmeric. Studies have shown that turmeric can help alleviate IBS and Crohn’s disease symptoms, and because it contains a high level of manganese and iron, it also helps with fat metabolization.
How to buy it: go for the fresh root or pure turmeric powder. (Although regular curry contains turmeric it has far less curcumin than pure turmeric powder.)
Adding this super-spice to your morning smoothie gives you a maximum of health benefits right at the start of your day. And with curcumin being a strong anti-inflammatory which can help alleviate joint pain, this smoothie is also a great go-to after an intense training session!
The benefits of raw or dark, unprocessed chocolate are plenty: it is rich in powerful antioxidants (the famous polyphenols); contains theobromine which has stimulant and relaxing effects; increases serotonin in the brain (good mood guaranteed); is rich in magnesium; and stimulates the production of endorphins which are hormones of pleasure! Believe it or not, chocolate will also curb your appetite – sounds counter-intuitive but it’s true, thanks to its fat content. In short, do not deprive yourself of chocolate!
