However you plan to spend your upcoming summer vacation, one thing we all share is the desire to be in great shape and comfy in our bikinis. So, here is my special 30-day pre-vacation guide to get you to your goal, one day at a time!
D-30: start drinking more water in order to properly hydrate your skin from the inside out: at least 6 cups (1.5 liters) a day, if possible with cucumber slices to alkalize the water
D-29: attack cellulite with dry brushing every morning (with exfoliating gloves): 2 minutes on a dry body
D-28: nothing beats perfectly bronzed skin to stay motivated. Every morning, use a light self-tanning moisturizer to give you a motivating summer glow
D-27: start a month of “clean eating”: no ready-made meals, no white sugar, no processed products, no more than 1 glass of wine a day.
D-26: commit to a minimum of 5 minutes strength training per day: 2 min abs, 2 min thighs, 1 min arms 🙂
D-25: start 10,000 steps per day (and continue this during your vacation!)
D-24: try on your bathing suits in advance to see which body zones you want to work on. Make these trouble zones a priority in your workouts!
D-23: starting today, suck in your stomach whenever you pass a door.
D-22: try your sun-protection products for this summer to ensure that your skin takes well to the products and that you’re not allergic.
D-21: prepare a small vacation fitness kit to take with you: carpets from gym to gym, small inflatable weights (fill with water), and elastic band.
D-20: opt for red and orange fruits to refuel beta-carotene and facilitate an early summer tan.
D-19: when you get home from work, turn on music and dance to 3 songs: go for about a 10-minute dance to get your cardio fix before summer.
D-18: opt for a draining herbal tea every day (preferably midday): cherry stem tea, dandelion, etc. To avoid ingesting chemicals choose organic teas.
D-17: contract your glutes 1000 times per day (in transit, on the couch, etc.) to get a firm Brazilian butt.
D-16: share your summer preps on social networks to help get your girlfriends on track as well and to boost your own motivation!
D-15: amp up your steps per day to 12,000.
D-14: exercise with a friend – according to studies working out with others gets you moving 50% more!
D-13: go to the pool with your favorite swimsuit to check that you feel good in your body (take this opportunity to swim 1k (2/3 mile) – at your own pace but fulfill the goal).
D-12: from today, opt for watercress-based salads. Watercress is highly detoxifying and will give you a beautiful complexion.
D-11: do your own layered face mask: gently clean your skin, hydrate with a herbal extracts facial spray, then apply a special face oil, followed by a light moisturizing cream (evening). Voila, your very own facial mask – you’ll be glowing by morning!
D-10: if you use sweeteners, stop from today as they can cause bloating.
D-9: reduce gluten and lactose (both contribute to bloating).
D-8: check that you are reaching your goal of 6 cups (1.5 liters) of water per day and keep it up!
D-7: go for eyelash extensions so you can have beautiful eyelashes on vacation without mascara!
D-6: reduce your salt intake to prevent water retention.
D-5: do 1 min of anti-stress breathing. Reducing stress enables better breathing which contributes to a flat stomach.
D-4: stop drinking carbonated drinks (even sugar-free or sparkling water), to prevent bloating.
D-3: get all your waxing done so that your skin has a few days to recover from any post-waxing reactions.
D-2: replace last year’s sun-protection products with new ones to ensure products are not contaminated or damaged by heat.
D-1: do a full body scrub for smooth skin (smooth skin reflects light better, thus giving a visually slimmer effect). Prepare a mixture of 3 parts baking soda with 1 part water. Massage this mixture all over your body (while dry) in circular movements, then rinse, pat dry and massage with body oil or moisturizer.
Happy Summer Vacation!
