👊 Challenge: Lose 5 lb in 8 days 👊
Whenever I return from a mountaineering expedition, I come back with more weight! You’re probably thinking, “but how is that possible with all the intense physical activity you’re doing?!” And you’re right, it does sound a little paradoxical, but here’s how it works:
When I go on an expedition, I’m super focused on my goal: the mountains I want to summit and the intense physical, mental and emotional challenges that come along with that.
I let go of my Keto Smart approach* and eat the energy-boosting foods I’ve packed and whatever is available at the heights I’m climbing. Getting my daily carbs is super important, so I eat accordingly.

So here I am, I’ve just come back from 15 days in the Swiss mountains, where I climbed 20 peaks at 4000m+ in 12 days (among them, the two highest mountains in Switzerland at 4634m and 4609m). A superhuman effort, incredibly long days, and poorly balanced food but decent sources of energy to keep you going: pasta, rice, chocolate, canned meat or tuna. Hey, you can’t really get veggies or fruits at 4000m!
The problem with my expedition diet is that despite my intensely active days, my formerly overweight body stores more than necessary and I return a little heavier than I left, unlike my fellow climbers ;).
Not a big deal, but rather than letting these extra pounds settle in (which will only make my future expeditions more difficult), I’m attacking them right now!
I’m challenging myself to lose 5 lb in 8 days, because if the weight was gained that quickly, we can lose it just as quickly!
