Here are 3 of my favorite moves which I do daily to tone up my abs, glutes, and thighs. Visible results guaranteed!
Exercise 1: Classical Lunges
This exercise works your rectus abdominis, glutes & thighs.
- Stand straight, feet slightly apart, hands clasped together in front.
- Engaging your abdominal muscles, step forward with your right foot and slowly descend into a lunge position to create a 45° angle with your right knee. Lift only your left heel to allow you to advance as much as possible.
- Focus on a downward movement of your hips, making sure you keep your knee above your ankle, pointing in the same direction as your toes to avoid injury.
- Hold for 2 seconds, return to initial position, and descend into the next lunge with your alternate foot, moving forward as you go.
- Continue for 1 min and repeat 3 times.
The Pendulum
This exercise primarily works your obliques.
- Position yourself on your knees, with your back straight and head aligned with your spine.
- Hold a medicine ball, 2-4 lb weight, or a water bottle filled with sand (yes, you can do this at the beach unplanned!).
- Contract your abs, and mentally focus on your oblique muscles (mind-muscle connection is real!) while moving the weight from one side to the other.
- Continue for 1 min and repeat 3 times.
The Active Plank
This exercise works your core abs, glutes, quads & hamstrings.
- Get into a high plank position: on your toes with hands flat on the ground creating a 90° angle with your shoulders.
- Maintaining the plank position, raise your right leg, hold it for a count of 2, and lower it back to the ground.
- Repeat immediately with your left leg.
- Continue for 1 min and repeat 3 times.
If you want to measure the results of your efforts:
Take a photo of yourself at the beginning of the week in your favorite fitness outfit (or bathing suit). Then go for these exercises on a daily basis. Take another photo at the end of the week and compare it to the first!
