This exercise primarily works your obliques.
This exercise works your core abs, glutes, quads & hamstrings.
If you want to measure the results of your efforts:
Take a photo of yourself at the beginning of the week in your favorite fitness outfit (or bathing suit). Then go for these exercises on a daily basis. Take another photo at the end of the week and compare it to the first!
